Enjoy top skiing and a beautiful winter

Gerlos is situated in the midst of the ski area ‘Zillertal Arena’ which stretches over two counties and is the biggest ski area in ‘Zillertal’. The ski area offers 143km of amazing pistes and 52 modern lifts. No matter if you’re a novice, intermediate or a professional, there’s something for everyone in terms of transport up as well as going down.

Gerlos is situated on 1,250m altitude so snow is pretty much guaranteed from December to Easter and has a charming wintery atmosphere to offer for your winter holiday. Since 2016 there are two cable cars, that get you from the village to the centre of the ski area at 2,000m altitude. But there is lots to do in Gerlos besides skiing… be it a romantic winter walk in one of the valleys with lots of catering alpine cottages, a ride on a horse drawn carriage, cross country skiing on well prepared tracks, tobogganing on one of the longest tobogganing track in ‘Zillertal’ or a ride on the ‘Alpenachterbahn’ - fun times for the whole family guaranteed.

Skiing and snowboarding

Gerlos, situated between 1,300m - 2,500 m altitude is the centre of the ‘Zillertalarena’. Three pistes lead directly into the valley, where you can enjoy some top Aprés-Ski after a perfect day on the pistes.

For the little ski stars there’s a training hill right next to the house equipped with a conveyer belt and button lifts as well as a ski school, where the kids get looked after for the whole day. The kindergarden for our guests (for children from the age of one) is situated next to the mountain station of the ‘Isskogelbahn’. Snowboarders and free skiers have lots on offer as well, like the snow park at ‘Vorkogellift’ which is a bit of a freestyle paradise.

Besides skiing there are many more things in the Zillertal Arena that are bound to bring you joy:

Cross country skiing

Cross country skiing will become quite a holiday experience with the freshly prepped cross country skiing tracks in the beautiful snowy mountain landscape. If you’re a novice you can book some lessons too.
With 16km of cross country tracks there’s nothing that stands between you and your cross country skiing adventure.

Winter hiking

A romantic winter walk through the glistering winter landscape is a tempting way to relax and bound to stay in your memory for a long time. Just take your time to unwind!
The cleared hiking tracks lead through the valleys surrounding Gerlos, where catering alpine cottages await with the one or other snack for in-between.

There’s fun to be had away from the pistes

How about a bit of a tobogganing adventure with a stop at one of the alpine cottages? A 7km long toboggan track, the longest in the whole of ‘Zillertal’ is located in the  ‘Zillertal Arena’ which is lit until 1am at night. Another lit toboggan track which is 1.5km long is located in ‘Krummbachtal’.

For people who love horse back riding like they do in the Wild West, we also got something on offer. Only 70m away from the ‘Landhaus’ you can book to ride on Argentinean and American ranch horses. Or alternatively, you can just enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride through the snowy winter landscape.
